MEK Operations & Analytics
As Director of Operations, I run the analytics, forecasting, and project management behind MEK's active portfolio for company leadership — building the revenue models, labor-margin tracking, and executive dashboards, while directing full project lifecycles across a multi-site public works and school-district portfolio spanning San Diego and San Francisco.

Cost-Saving Insights
What the analysis leads to
18%
labor cost reduction in the first year, from acting on these findings
Flagged crews consistently overstaffed relative to job size
Surfaced schedule-compression opportunities across multi-phase sites
Findings folded into the staffing model used on new bids
Process Automation
Built with Claude, on top of daily ops work
Auto-generates change order (COR) packages from source documents
Files and organizes daily reports automatically
Turns scattered daily report data into a single, ready-to-use Excel sheet — a manual, day-by-day gathering process reduced to one automated step
Archives weekly dispatch records into a searchable structure
Centralizes data collection across OneDrive and Outlook
Turning recurring paperwork into reusable, Claude-based tools — self-taught, built for real use, not a class project.
Mock data for illustration — site names and chart values are illustrative, not MEK's actual numbers. The 18% first-year labor cost reduction is a real MEK result.
Part 1 of 3 — Healthcare Analytics Sprint
CMS Medicare Provider Utilization & Cost Analysis
Health plan analysts need to know where medical spending actually concentrates — by procedure, provider, care setting, and specialty — to catch cost drivers and manage risk. I used CMS's public Medicare Physician & Other Practitioners dataset as a real-world proxy for claims data, and built the kind of analysis a payer's data team runs day to day.
Designed a PostgreSQL schema from CMS's 2024 public release, filtered to California (832,561 provider/procedure/place-of-service rows), and wrote five SQL queries of increasing complexity — ranked aggregations, a CASE-based relabeling with a window function for care-setting spend share, and a specialty-level rollup pairing total spend against provider count. Turned the results into narrative chart visuals with Python/matplotlib, all version-controlled on GitHub.

Real, public CMS data (2024 Medicare Physician & Other Practitioners release, California) — analysis and figures above are mine, not MEK's. Parts 2 (pharmacy claims ETL & data quality validation) and 3 (claims-based readmission forecasting) of this sprint are still in progress.

Journey
How I got here.
May 2018 – Sept 2019
Loss Prevention Agent, UC San Diego Bookstore
First job on campus — monitored surveillance systems and audited web order fulfillment to protect store assets. An early lesson in operational discipline and data integrity.
Nov 2022 – May 2024
Business Analyst (Part-Time), Woodland Hills Wine Company
Analyzed sales and inventory data across product lines and built standardized revenue and margin reporting templates — first hands-on experience turning raw numbers into decisions.
June 2023
B.S. Business Economics, UC San Diego
Built a foundation in economic analysis, financial modeling, and data-driven decision-making — capped off by an independent research project designing and running A/B tests in Qualtrics to evaluate competing sales campaigns for Renault Trucks. The mix of business fundamentals and hands-on analytics is still how I approach every problem today.
June 2024
Joined MEK Enterprises
Started as an Operations Management Analyst — learning the financial and scheduling side of public works construction from the ground up.
March 2026
Elected VP, NAK Alumni Executive Board
Took on alumni-wide leadership for Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity — coordinating events and owning alumni communications, after previously serving as Secretary.
May 2026
Promoted to Director of Operations
Stepped up to lead MEK's full operations department after the Operations Manager's departure — absorbing the role solo and reporting directly to the CEO and VP.
Late Summer 2026
Started building Daedalus
Began building a personal AI life-assistant iOS app with a close friend — now in daily use, centralizing finance, calendar, and to-dos.
Today
Where things stand
Directing analytics, forecasting, and project management for 30 concurrent public works projects at MEK, while running NAK's alumni programs and keeping Daedalus in daily use.
Outside of Work
A few things I'm into.
I'm a first-generation American — my parents immigrated from El Salvador — and I care about helping first-gen students find their footing the way I had to. Long-term, I'd love to help build or support a foundation focused on San Fernando Valley youth programs and infrastructure development in El Salvador. Outside of that, here's what keeps me busy:
Soccer & Football
Real Madrid is my club, Man United close behind
Follow the Champions League & Premier League closely enough a data deep-dive is probably coming
From LA, originally an LA Galaxy fan — now love catching SDFC matches live
Chargers fan; run a fantasy football team
Played center mid ("the 8") in club soccer, ages 6–17; fullback/linebacker in HS football
Run a personal soccer-analytics side project, just for fun
